HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR KIDS HEADSHOTS IN LOS ANGELES
Ideally you always show up well prepared for your headshot photography session in Los Angeles.
Your kids headshots in Los Angeles are really important, based on the quality of the headshots, it can make a significant difference between who is taken seriously and who isn’t. If your headshots in Los Angeles look amateurish, you are not giving your child the best chance and opportunities to be exposed and seen by casting directors, agents, managers, etc… In other words relevant people in the commercial, film and acting industry will gravitate to the ones who present themselves more professionally.
Once you understand the importance of your childs’ headshots in Los Angeles, then the next step will be to find and select a headshot photographer in Los Angeles who can provide your young actor with an amazing experience and an optimal outcome. That part of the process can be a little tricky, make sure YOU choose your headshot photographer. Recommendations are fine but ultimately after your thorough research with visiting websites, talking to the headshot photographer, etc… YOU ultimately will have to trust your judgement, and instincts as to who is the right photographer in L.A. for your young actor.
The headshot photographer should be specific in guiding you so you show up well prepared for your photo shoot. Wardrobe for example is often overlooked by photographers, they’ll tell you “not to worry”, that it isn’t about the wardrobe… That would be a photographer who does not understand the importance that kid wears really helps define who that kid is. Basic mainstream attire is one option, athletic wardrobe is another, edgier/darker style, skateboard/beach vibe is another, they are NOT all the same, therefore all wardrobe does not convey the same vibe… Be specific, when your young actor is wearing a certain style wardrobe, ask yourself: Who is that kid? There’s a difference between a more conservative type/style and a edgy, wild kid… Can he/she be both? Hence the wardrobe changes, if your young actor has range then change the wardrobe in your headshot session and show that range… An experienced headshot photographer who is conscientious will help you with this important aspect of your photo shoot, they should help you with wardrobe styling, and show in their headshots the different essences of that child actor.
Does my kid need makeup? No. Are there exceptions? Yes. If you must add a little makeup, it should be very minimal, keep everything age appropriate and natural, keep in mind that they like to cast actors to play their age or younger. More makeup has a tendency to add years…
Should I get a haircut before my headshot session? My question is WHY? If you feel that your hair is not representative of how you normally wear your hair and you need the hairdresser to make that adjustment before your photo shoot then sure… Remember, as an actor, young or older, ultimately you want to look like you. Your headshot photographer in Los Angeles should always be mindful to provide you with amazing headshots, but the headshots have to look like you. So when it comes to hair, you do not want to create a whole new hairstyle for your photo shoot.
